31Oct 2009 The Income-tax department on Friday issued a detailed show cause notice to the Netherland incorporated Vodafone International Holdings as to why it should not be treated as a defaulter for not deducting tax at source on the $ 11.2 billion paid to Hutchison Telecommunications International for the acquisition of Hutch Essar in 2007.

1) If the I-T department declares Vodafone to be a defaulter, it will have to cough up about $ 2 billion as TDS along with another $ 2 billon as penalty.

3) The fresh notice comes after the Supreme Court dismissed the company’s application questioning the I-T Dept’s jurisdiction over a Dutch firm.

This net has put the power of information in the hands of a common man as a medium it is more than egalitarian and knows no boundaries.

The NET has made a radical change as it paradigm the shift of the way we read the information and transforms the knowledge. The Net made an enormous impact on the TECH-SAVVY people as well as on the life of a common man also and became a need of the propagation of life. Though the Net has shadowed the universal activities its’ excessive use also to be checked as many instances in recent past made the society to think to become vigil over this issue. This tool to be used for the constructive purpose and for well being of the society but if we see the new ways of crime are using this to create threat, fear, unrest in the world hence the need to be vigilant leads to make a law on this cyber crime. In INDIA in a new definite with no loop- holes, a concrete amended law came into its’ existence from 27^th October 2009. So let us celebrate with responsibility the 40 years teen users our NET birth day with joy which is our bread and butter in future days as we belongs to the community of information and technologies.
